From Digital Footprints to Urbanity Lost in transduction

چکیده
On the trail of Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, we must recognize the multi-faceted nature of a given urban space, establish a link between individual practices and the city as a whole, explore the non-hierarchical relationship between ideal and material realities and, finally, shed light on the decisive nature of the city’s selfvisibility. From this perspective, Invisible cities are probably less fictional than most urban representations, which are generally limited to buildings and transport infrastructures. At best, these representations depict main roads, traffic and commuting. Calvino, in his own way, emphasized the most important part of urbanity: its complexity.

Recovery of used products is receiving much attention recently due to growing environmental concerns. In this paper, we address the carbon footprint basedon problem arising in closed-loop supply chain where returned products are collected from customers. These returned products can either be disposed or be remanufactured to be sold as new ones again. Here, we formulate a comprehensive closed-loo...

When a jack-up installed at a clay location and then leaves; it can create several meter deep footprints. In case of soft clay, the spudcan may have actually penetrated much deeper than the observed footprints. When the penetrated spudcan is pulled out, much of the soft remolded clay will flow around it and go back into the hole. This event, leaving a deep region of disturbed soil. The disturbe...
متن کاملA dynamic Bayesian network for identifying protein-binding footprints from single molecule-based sequencing data
MOTIVATION A global map of transcription factor binding sites (TFBSs) is critical to understanding gene regulation and genome function. DNaseI digestion of chromatin coupled with massively parallel sequencing (digital genomic footprinting) enables the identification of protein-binding footprints with high resolution on a genome-wide scale. However, accurately inferring the locations of these fo...
متن کاملComparing Three Footprint Grades to Evaluate Footprint Indexes for Flat Foot Diagnosis
Purpose: The present study investigated the most appropriate footprint index and its related parameters for the diagnosis of flatfoot, especially in cases with mild deformity. Methods: In total, 148 footprints were recorded from 77 young women with flatfoot. Footprints were classified into three groups of mild, moderate, and sever. Footprint indexes included Sztriter-Godunov (KY), Clarke’s Ang...
